On Wed 28 March St Michael’s took part in a football blitz for the Malachy Mc Geeney Cup. The competition was held in Ballymacnab pitch with 9 teams competing for the prize. The teams were drawn into two groups for a round-robin tournament. Clady was drawn with: St. Laurence O’Toole’s P.S. Belleeks, Jonesborough Primary School, St Marys Maghery and Darkley Primary School. This was a very tough group and we did really well to come out as runners up which meant we qualified for the semi finals.
The semi final was with the group 2 winners, St. Patrick’s Derrynaseer. This was a very close game with St Patricks leading by a point at half time before Clady went a point ahead only to lose to two very late points in the dying seconds of the game. Again the footballers of Clady have done us proud on the field. Well done to all on the team.Tags: 2017/18, extra curricular, Football, Football Blitz, Gaelic Games, Small schools football cup, sports
