AmmA Creative Workshops – Summer 2016

· Workshops run from 10.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m. [unless stated otherwise]
· Workshops cost £5 per day.
· Visit to apply online.
· Applications should be submitted online by Fri 17 June. You will be notified by email/post regarding allocation of places.

Beginner 2 Band [B2B]

Are you a budding musician who would like the opportunity to write and record with others? Then B2B needs you!! No matter what styles or instrument you play this 3-day workshop will give you the chance to write and record original material with fellow musicians and professionals from the Music industry.

Dates: Tuesday 28th – Thursday 30th June [3-day workshop]

Age: 13 – 17


The Collective

A programme that will bring together a group of 5 young people (age 14 -18). This group will be selected from a group of applicants who can showcase their experience in original composition and performance. The group will be given a week in the AmmA Centre’s Recording Studio assisted by the Sound Engineer. The aim of the collective is to write, record and release original material online and market it through social media, Facebook, soundcloud, regular blogs etc.

Introduction to Game Design & Virtual Reality with Unity3D

An introduction to the powerful Unity3D game engine which has been used to create countless games for all the major game consoles and mobile devices. Participants will learn how to :

♦ Understand the basics of the Unity3D game engine;
♦ Create 3D game levels with geometry, textures, lighting and particle systems;
♦ Create advanced particles and effects;
♦ Use C# to write small scripts to control sprites;
♦ Test games with an Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset;
♦ Publish games to the iPhone, iPad, Android, and desktop.

The Magic of Movies

Ever wanted to be a Super Hero … Princess or Pirate? Through the magic of your imagination, this two-day workshop will involve creating film sets, designing costumes and face-paints and use the magic of green screen to bring your creative imagination into the world of reality. Become whoever you want to be!

Dates: Thursday 7th – Friday 8th July [2-day workshop]

Create and Animate

An introduction to creating your own animation using different techniques. Learn the basics of animation to create animated characters and scenes. No previous experience required – just great ideas!

Young Hands Make Art!

Having fun with colour, shape and space – release your natural creativity and imagination in response to artists work, storytelling and music.

♦ A series of fun mark-making, drawing and painting activities;
♦ Responding to sounds and music;
♦ A chance to create a collaborative art work.

Dates: Tuesday 19th – Wednesday 20th July [2-day workshop]

This is a 2-day workshop designed to cover a wide range of computer generated music. From using iPads and other external controllers to creating soundscapes and also to control and manipulate audio and video software live in a performance setting.

The Art of the Moving Image

Thinking of a career in Moving Image Arts? This five-day workshop will provide you with the tools to further explore the art of the moving image. You will be placed in a professional environment and tasked to plan, produce and edit a film using the AmmA Centre’s latest digital filmmaking equipment.
So, if you are looking to have a go at directing, cinematography, editing, sound recording or more, then this is the course for you. No previous experience required, but if looking to or are studying MIA please note in application.
