Thursday , 1st of June 2017 was a day for the wellies but this did not dampen the spirits of Primary 3 and 4 as we set off in Jerome`s coach for a day of exploration and discovery on Oxford Island.
To begin with, Pascal gave us an overview of Lough Neagh with an interesting Power Point presentation about its Ecosystem.
Lyndsie`s display of preserved wildfowl helped us to become familiar with birdlife in the area. After her talk, Lyndsie walked us down to the woods to discover the woodland habitat of mini-beasts. We collected several species in glass containers and Lyndsie helped us to identify them using her code key.
Next Lyndsie provided us with nets to go pond-dipping at the water`s edge. We also had fun watching the Mallard ducks and Coots swimming among the reeds.
Finally, we choose some souvenirs of our visit from The Oxford Island shop. Everyone in Primary 3 and4 enjoyed learning so much about wildlife and The World Around Us while taking part in these fun activities.
