? What have we learned about birds?

The children were given a range of pictures of birds. In their mixed groupings they had to take turns to explain what made some of the birds the same and what made them different. Lots of learning and super vocabulary was displayed as the children discussed topics such as the colour of feathers and other features such as talons and leg and neck length. The children determined that the birds mainly fell into three categories; garden birds, birds that could and couldn’t fly and birds of prey. The only problem we had was deciding on where the ostrich can be found…. the debate goes on as to whether it is Africa or Dublin zoo!
