The Parents section of the website also includes useful links to other educational websites relevant to the curriculum, links for ordering the school uniform from School Trends, the current dinner menu and information by the Friends of St Michael’s.
One of our Primary 5 pupils, Conor Ferris showed great initiative last week. He asked Mr White if he could try to raise money for Children in Need by selling ducks in the Big Duck Race. There was lots of buzz as children decided on which duck they liked the look of or which name sounded like a safe £2 wager. At 1pm on Friday the race took place. Congratulations to this week’s Star Pupils!
We celebrated Roald Dahl Day in style on Friday 13th September. To celebrate his birthday, P6/7 dressed up as a favourite character from his books. A big thank you to the parents for all their effort with the costumes. P1-P5 engaged in lots of fun activities to celebrate this fantastic author! Well done to our art competition winners: Aaron, Rohan, Charlotte, Aoife and Lucy.
Congratulations to our Star Pupils this week.
Just to remind parents that the school has a healthy break policy so snacks at break time should not include chocolate, sugary foods or sugary drinks. A pupil in the school has a nut allergy so parents need to be extra careful not to send any foods into school which contain nuts. Thank you for helping to keep our children safe & healthy!
Tin whistle lessons have started again during school hours. The school has purchased some tin whistles which can be purchased from the office for £6.
The school is able to offer afterschool for GAA games on a Wednesday afternoon. P1-P3 pupils from 2pm-3pm and P4-P7 3 pm to 4 pm. This is voluntary coaching so no charge for pupils. Armagh City FC will commence a cross community soccer programme funded by Peace 4. A coach will come to school each Thursday to take P1-P3 pupils from 2pm-3pm and P4-P7 from 3 pm to 4 pm. We had circle time today in P1/2. We introduced ourselves to our circle time friend Georgie Bear. We told him our names and something we liked and something we didn’t like. Georgie Bear goes home for the weekend with one child who has impressed him all week. Georgie needs to come back to school on Monday to tell us all about his adventures. We will celebrate Roald Dahl Day on Friday 13th September. All classes will be participating in activities to celebrate the works of this great children’s author. We ask that P6 & P7 children come to school dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character.
We would like to welcome our new Primary 1's to St Michael's and hope they settle into school life as soon as possible. Today we had so much fun playing with lots of new and exciting toys. It's an exciting time for discovery and learning. Our new P1's can't wait to meet their new friends in P2 on Monday.
